KINDY PUPPY Class for puppies 8 weeks to 4 months. This includes:

Socialisation - teaching your puppy to be comfortable and confident around other puppies and people
Confidence building with new experiences - mini obstacle courses
Developing good habits and establishing realistic goals
Introduction to training - sit, lie down, settle, recall, lead skills
Addressing common problems such as biting, mouthing, chewing, toilet training, jumping up

Kindy Puppy Class is a 6 week course, (6 x 1 hour lessons). Additional weeks may be available to bridge the gap between completing Kindy and starting Primary Puppy. Classes are held at a school which is outside but undercover. The training area is on concrete and the school grounds are not public access, which makes it very low risk for puppies who haven't completed their vaccinations (please talk to your vet if any concerns).

PRIMARY PUPPY Class for friendly dogs 4 - 24 months old. There is no pre-requisite for prior class attendance however this is the ideal follow on after Kindy Puppy class or Puppy Pre-School at your Vet. This includes:

Teaching calm and focus with distractions
Walking with you on lead
Recall (coming when called)
Settle on your mat/bed
Stay/wait
Stand still for brushing/harness on etc
Polite greetings with people

Primary Puppy Class is a 6 week course, (6 x 1 hour lessons).

Come and Try .......... Short Courses - 3 weeks / $95

Available to friendly dogs with some basic training in place.

If you have limited time and/or finances, but want to try something new with your dog, these Short Courses are jam packed with things you can start to teach your dog, that can easily be continued at home to provide exercise and enrichment without breaking the bank!

Clicker Training - this is a good way to refine your training skills and increase your dog’s confidence; great for mental stimulation and can be as tiring (if not more so) than physical exercise. This course will show you how to use a clicker to begin training some useful day to day skills such as lead walking, settle on your mat, come when called, 4 paws on the floor for greeting.

Trick Training - is quick and easy and can be adapted to suit you and your dog. Teach your dog to spin in a circle. walk backwards a few steps. weave between your legs, find straddle position, put their front feet up on a low platform, go out around a marker, jump through a hoop.

Backyard Agility - start to teach your dog this fun activity, it is only really basic exercises (hence the term Backyard), not intended for anyone who wants to do agility seriously! This course focuses on “slow and steady” not “fast and furious”, neither you nor your dog need to be able to run a marathon to do it! Teach your dog to run through a tunnel, go over low jumps, weave through poles.

CONTINUING EDUCATION

Other classes are available from time to time and information will be provided to those attending classes and/or they will be advertised on the website here and Facebook page. This includes:

Agility Classes - only available to current attendees
Trick Training - available on completion of Primary Puppy or Canine Basics

SMART PAWS Class for dogs over 6 months who have attended previous training with me (at Primary Puppy or Canine Basics level) or similar training elsewhere (above Puppy Pre-School level). All dogs must be friendly towards other dogs and people. Class includes:

Loose lead walking around other dogs and people
Recall rehearsals for real life situations
Stay with distractions
Calm and focus exercises
Lie down and settle on mat beside you
Adding variety to your dog's daily routine with exercise, games, enrichment ....... and more

Ideally this is for dogs who have completed my other classes (Primary Puppy level or above) and want to do a bit more and/or who need a "top up" to their skills since finishing; the focus is on training for real life skills, mostly when out and about but can include in the home setting too. There are no strict acceptance criteria from a skills point of view, but the expectation is that your dog has some basic training in place and is comfortable in a group class setting.
