KINDY PUPPY CLASS

For puppies 8 - 14 weeks

Classes include:

• Socialisation - the chance to meet and play with other puppies, meet new people and experience new things.

• Training- sit, lie down, settle, come when called.

• Problem solving - toilet training, biting and mouthing, chewing, jumping up.

Early socialisation, training and help with common puppy problems are the key to a happy, confident well adjusted dog that you will be proud to share your life with.

Your puppy will need to be between 8 and 14 weeks and have had at least their first vaccination to attend.

PRIMARY PUPPY CLASS

For puppies up to 6 months

Have you missed out on Puppy School but still have problems with puppy-related behaviours?

Have you completed Puppy School and still have problems with puppy-related behaviours?

This class is for puppies under 6 months, providing help with toilet training, biting/mouthing, chewing, jumping up, and socialisation.

It is designed to complement other classes, so the content doesn’t overlap.  So, for example, if you need help with the above problems, Primary Puppy Class is ideal, but it’s also recommended that you attend Canine Basics to teach your dog other skills that you will most likely need.

These are individual sessions, but you may attend more than one if necessary!

CANINE BASICS CLASS

For dogs over 14 weeks

This is for any dogs over 14 weeks old, who are friendly towards other dogs and people. It is the ideal first training class, or the next step for Puppy Class Graduates, or for any dog who needs some basic training.

There is no upper age limit, so is great for newly acquired adult dogs too.

Includes walking nicely on lead, coming when called, sit to greet people, relax and settle, stay, and dog-dog social skills.

Small class sizes mean individual attention but still with the chance to socialise with other dogs.

SMALL PAWS CLASS

For little dogs over 14 weeks

This is a basic training class, similar to Canine Basics, but with the needs of little dogs and their owners in mind.

Ideal for people who prefer to train their dog in a class with other little dogs.  This is for the following breeds, and crosses between these breeds:

Bichon Frise, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Chihuahua, Italian Greyhound, Maltese, Papillon, Pekingese, Pomeranian, Pug, Shih Tzu, Toy Poodle.  Other (rarer) toy breeds may be included, please check with me.

Includes walking nicely on lead, coming when called, sit to greet people, relax and settle, stay and dog-dog social skills.

For dogs who are friendly with other dogs and people.

This is a daytime class, held at Somersby Hall, with easy parking and access.

AGILITY CLASSES

For dogs who have completed Canine Basics, Small Paws, a similar class elsewhere, or who have a basic level of training already.

Teach your dog to go over jumps, through tunnels, and weave through poles.

This is a fun, social class to give you and your dog the chance to continue learning and meeting other dogs and owners.

RALLY OBEDIENCE CLASSES

Rally Obedience is a more relaxed and fun version of traditional obedience.

It is already a competitive event in other parts of the world, in which dogs can earn titles, and will also become an official event in Australia in 2012.

The aim of Rally O classes with WOOFS & WAGS is to give people the chance to refine their dog’s basic obedience skills, (teaching the dogs to focus and pay attention with distractions), whilst still having fun and providing a social class for dogs and people.

Once the exercises have been taught, the dog-owner team follows a numbered course, with signs showing the exercise that needs to be performed at that point.

Rally O classes are available to friendly dogs who have completed Canine Basics, a similar class elsewhere, or who have a basic level of training and want learn something new.

PLAY & TRAIN SESSIONS

For dogs who love to meet and play with other dogs.  Off lead play in safe, secure indoor area.

Includes short training breaks to make sure the dogs can calm down during play and to ensure you can interrupt the play.

Aimed at dogs who are attending classes with WOOFS & WAGS to provide additional socialisation, however other dogs may be accepted, so please check.

This is not a remedial socialisation class, so is not suitable for dogs who do not already get along well with other dogs.

CALM & SETTLE CLASS

Is your dog difficult to control?

Does your dog have difficulty settling down and relaxing?

This course is based on the book “Chill Out Fido” (How to Calm Your Dog), which is included in your course fee.

Help to identify the causes of this behaviour, and then train specific exercises that teach your dog to calm down, pay attention and relax.

This is a group class, so is for dogs who are friendly with other dogs and people.

Private lessons to cover this problem can also be arranged if this is more suitable.

OWNER EDUCATION SESSIONS

A lot can be achieved without the distraction of your dog being present, so Owner Education Sessions are without dogs.

These are new for 2011 and various sessions are being planned, including Behaviour Problems, and Dogs & Kids.

The first one will be held on Saturday 23 July at Somersby on Behaviour Problems, from 2.00pm – 5.00pm, cost is $45.00.

The aim of this session is to:

Help you to better understand why dogs do what they do

Teach you how to teach your dog more acceptable behaviours

Dispel some common dog training myths

Help you to come up with creative solutions to your individual problem(s)
